Welcome back everyone!

We are delighted to welcome your children back to school on Monday 1st September. 

As ever, children should be in school from 8:45am.

New P1s

As detailed in the open day and P1 induction documents: P1s will finish at 12:50pm from Sept 1st to Sept 19th (the first 3 weeks) and then leave at the same time as the P2s at 2:05pm. 

Mrs Gould's class P3/4

I can confirm that Mrs Gould will be working a 4 day week from September 1st. Her days will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I am very pleased to announce that Mrs McCutcheon who knows the school and your children very well will be working in P3/4 on Wednesdays. Mrs McCutcheon is an experienced and skilled teacher with a great heart for our school and the children. She has worked regularly as a substitute teacher in the school over the last 2 years and she'll be a great asset to the life of Brookeborough PS.

This has now been advertised with interviews taking place on September 17th. As I explained before the Summer my last day at our school will be October 31st. I am not personally part of the recruitment process but I will keep you informed in due course. I'll be liaising with our school governors and the new principal to ensure a smooth transition. 

Healthy snacks

As part of working towards our Eco-Schools award, we will be writing a new healthy snacks policy soon. In the meantime please send in your child with water only, and a sensible sized healthy snack, ideally fruit.

Violin tuition

This will commence on Thurs Sept 4th.

Swimming

We are aiming to start this in September and we will confirm the days when this will be happening for P5s, P6s and P7s soon. 

Homework

There will be no homework in the first week to allow children time to settle back into the school routine. 

Curriculum Meetings with teachers

These will take place for all classes, on Tues 16 September at 3:30pm. This is an important opportunity for you as parents to get a flavour of what your child will be learning throughout the year and visit your child's classroom.

Collection

Please be clear with your child on their collection arrangements and whether they are going home on the bus so they know their routine, especially on their first day on Monday next week. If there are any changes to this please let the school office know. 

Newsletter and key dates until Christmas

The September newsletter will be issued early next week, with key dates for September and Term 1 along with an updated school calendar on the school website. 

Breakfast club survey

A survey gauging interest in a breakfast club will be issued next week, please complete this to share your views with us. 

School Photographer 

The photographer will be in school on Friday 24th October for all the usual photos including whole class, whole school, individual and siblings.
