We had fun getting dirty and collecting soil samples from around the school grounds to see what type of soil there is in the area. For farmers soil types are very important. We found 5 different soil types using a simple test: what 3D shapes could be made from the soil, that told us if it was:
- Sandy;
- Sandy loam;
- Loam;
- Clayey loam; or
- Clay
Some of the soil, especially the clay ended up looking like a number 2 in the toilet, much to the amusement of some!
